Half-day intensive with distance learning option
In these sessions, individual composers will introduce participants to their own original congregational music through reading sessions. They may share some stories about various pieces, or recommend specific ways in which a song or hymn can be integrated into a service. Everyone will receive printed versions of the music with details about how to obtain licensing for congregational use and how to purchase additional resources.
Donna will teach her wonderful, rhythmic, Latin-inspired music and talk about:
- Using stories and action music in liturgy
- Inspiring thought with song and prayer
- Moving out of your comfort zone
- How to set this music into liturgy

Donna Peña brings both incredible compositional gifts and a wealth of parish experience. Drawing upon her Mexican-American and Cherokee heritage, she was one of the first composers creating bilingual music for GIA back in the late 1980s. Donna’s song, “Digo Sí, Señor/I Say “Yes, Lord”” is sung in churches throughout the United States and beyond. She grew up in St. Paul, MN, and served for many years as music director at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church there.
