Zion Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD will host these two classes for The Center coming up in November on the 18th and 19th.
Leading Congregational Singing
One of the principal tasks of musicians who plan and lead worship is to lift up the voice of the congregation. But how do we invite people to join in rather than sit back and listen? Can you change the musical culture in a congregation from one that is passive to one where people actively engage in singing? What are the ways that singing together builds community? This class will address these and other questions, and explore the Biblical and historical foundations of singing together when we gather.
The cost for this class is $150.00. For more information and to register for this class, click here.
Playing Hymns with a Worship Band
There has been so much dynamic new worship music written with the “praise band” in mind. However, do you ever wonder if your band-led services should include some music that wasn’t written in the last ten minutes? What about the legacy of all the great hymns of the faith? Is there a way to include that music in your contemporary services without having it feel like an academic exercise?
Instructor Jay Beech answers this question with a resounding “YES”! Jay has taken his love of hymnody, plugged it into his internal groove generator, and created very cool arrangements for the worship band.
Playing Hymns with a Worship Band is scheduled from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on November 19.
The cost for this class is $50 and includes one spiral-bound music book. Please bring as many from your worship team or congregation as you would like with you and just pay $10 per extra music book. For more information and to register for this class, please click here.
