The Center for Worship and Music Studies is excited to announce that it will be teaching a class for the Agora ministry entitled Leading Worship in Multicultural Contexts. Beginning in January, 2016, this five-session course will explore ways to design and lead worship with local, multicultural congregations, and help to create worship spaces that are both inclusive and engaging.
Agora is an ELCA-supported ministry whose mission is to strengthen the ministry of congregations that embrace the growing diversity of our society, helping to develop lay leaders for immigrant and multicultural congregations.
Class sessions will be lead by Jay Beech, as well as individual sessions taught by Donna Peña and Mary Preus. The class will meet every other Saturday for five weeks, January 9th, 23rd, February 6th, 20th, & March 5th, 8:30-12:00 at Luther Seminary. Registration is now open through Agora’s website.
Registration for Marty Haugen’s Composing Master Class is now open!
Marty Haugen will offer a master class on January 16th for liturgical composers and those interested in studying and critiquing liturgical compositions.
Those enrolled may, if they wish, submit one liturgical composition intended for congregational singing, which will be included (if possible) in the group’s conversation around composing for the liturgy. Song submissions are due by January 1st.
