Repertoire, Rehearsal, & Resources: Three “R’s” for the Church Choral Director

aune_conducting_webThis class will focus on three key elements which are essential components for the successful church choral conductor and the church choir. There will be a reading session of both new and “tried and true” choral

repertoire of various styles and voicings, during which specific rehearsal and musical elements of each particular score will be discussed and demon- strated. Additionally, some students will have the opportunity to conduct the class and receive feedback and coaching. We will also explore and discuss the role of the church choir as the leader in congregational song.

(Bring as many from your church as you want! Registration includes one packet of choral octavos. Additional packets available for $45 each.)

Greg Aune has been the conductor of The Gustavus Choir for 21 years at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where he holds the Jon and Anita Thomsen Young Distinguished Endowed Chair in Music. He also has extensive experience directing church choirs. Greg holds degrees from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and the University of Iowa.
